Stone walls, known as dry stone walls, meander across the entire island, shaping their unique architectural landscape and following the contours of the terrain. In the spaces between the horizontal stones of these dry stone walls, towering vertical slate slabs, called 'stimata' by the locals are arranged in various combinations.
